April 1st: Caborredondo to Güeme
Udai Kapila
- 2 minutes read - 364 wordsIt was really tough to leave Izarra, it was such a nice place, I got the sense that Flo there wanted to spend some more time with me, she even offered to drive me into town to a bike shop today… But I wanted to ride, I felt like my journey was finally hitting it’s stride, and I finally felt like I had a loose hold on what I was doing and where I was going.
I Got on the road around 9:30am and I was tired starting the day… it was cold but not too cold, windy in the right direction atleast and spits of rain throughout the ride. I put my raincoat on and took it off 10 minutes later, the day couldn’t decided if it wanted to rain or not, and I suspect that it was raining behind me because as soon as I stopped riding, I could feel it catching me up…
Anyway, the ride was nice enough, quiet roads in and out of small towns and big towns too, all road today which was the recommended route and I didn’t argue with it…. I think the trails will be pretty muddy and I am OK to skip them! The coast and I will be reunited at some point… and I will eventually get a swim…
I rode up a hill to a famous Albergue tonight… it’s a bit culty, not overly religious, but in a commune type of way. I had a good chat with some older guys from Ireland and a lady from South Africa… just like always, it’s more interesting to hang out with the older crew than the younger travellers for whatever reason… I think we have actually forgotten to socialize…
Notes from 2 years later
Anyway the guy who runs the Albergue gave a talk and it was very disjointed and awkward… that’s all I’d want to remember about that… dinner was nice, simple… got rice… wooooo
Happy to ride tomorrow just to get to the next place, hopefully the sun comes out, and hopefully westerly winds continue! Although I do see it changing direction now… fair is fair… but plz just give me something!
